Multi-Vehicle Collision, Fire and Hazardous Material Containment
I-81 Southbound - Mile Marker 184

Several tractor trailers collided on the snow and ice-slicked highway.  One of the semis contained 81 barrels of hazardous waste, prompting a Haz-Mat response from Roanoke EMS.  Our squad responded to the scene to transport 5 patients to Stonewall Jackson Hospital.  Glasgow Fire Department and Lexington Fire Department responded to the scene.  The total time spent at the scene for fire suppression and Haz-Mat containment was over 19 hours.
