Great Site!  It is good to be able to check in and see how everyone is doing.  I am glad to see that the squad is still performing well with a good number of members and some nice apparatus.  I often think back to my days on the crew and miss it.

Hello
I was drawn to the page by random surfing and saw Julian Wise demonstrate the resuscitator to the crew. I am a sucker for EMS history as I am also the webmaster of a page dealing in the TV series, "Emergency!"

I hope you will include more on the evolution from first aid to the paramedic. I felt the letters in History were heart-rending, even from families of those GFAC could not save.

Too many forget the role that volunteer rescue squads had in beginning EMS.  Parallel movements went on in big cities in the Fifties, especially Flint MI and Chicago.

The biggest jumpstart was probably the 1966 Federal Highway Safety Act and publicity generated by paramedics- in no small measure from "Emergency!"

I may ask at some date to borrow some historical .  I wish I had more pics of the TV series but someone is imposing a monopoly on them.  Thus I have to suffice with old EMS snapshots.

Thanks

Dear Sirs:

I am to the last twenty-five years, the Fire and Emergency Photographer in the City of Barcelona in Spain.

I have been collecting by more than twenty years all those objects, which have relation, with the Emergency Services.

I am the owner of a Museum Collection, in with there are represented around 3.000 of items Departments, Fire, Rescue, Salvage Corps, Civil Defense, Emergency Medical Services, Rescue Mountain Services, Mining Rescue Teams, Maritime Rescue Departments, etc. of all around the world.

I am principally interested in helmets, although any items of uniform.

I am writing to ask if you would be kind enough to send me any examples of LAPEL PINS, TIE TACS, COLLAR BADGES, PATCHES, WALL PLAQUES OR MARKS which relate to your Service.

As an old member of the International Helmet Collectors Association, I have been able to contact you, in order to request you to send me, one helmet of your Department.

Thank you for taking the trouble to read this letter, and I look forward very much to hearing from you in the near future.

Yours faithfully,

JOAQUIM POL

I have been a Miami-Dade County Florida Special Olympics athlete and I am currently the only wheelchair athlete in the state of Florida who competes in power lifting.  I have been collecting fire dept patches from across the country and from across the state of Florida.  I have been able to obtain about seventeen patches for my collection so far.  I just finished looking through the list of New Mexico fire dept patches that you posted on your website. I am interested in the City of Santa Fe New Mexico Fire Dept patch.  I would like to know if you have a City of Santa Fe New Mexico Fire Dept available to send me for my collection.

Hi, I am a kid who wants to be a paramedic when I grow up. I really liked your webpage. I just have one question. Where is Glasgow? Anyway I want to be a driver. The job just looks very interesting. I hope that when I am old enough the rescue squad near me will still be up and running. I also like the heavy rescue trucks. They look just like a tractor trailer except they have lights around the side. Last year I went to the open house of the rescue squad near me. It was very cool because they used the jaws of life to rip the top of a car off. It was an amazing site. If you have any interesting photos of your apparatus, please send them to me at littlemanparamedic91@hotmail.com

Sincerely,

Matthew

I am Paul Maxwell, EMT-P and founder of EPIC Medics. I want to let you know about EPIC Medics (Eliminate Preventable Injuries of Children), the Injury Prevention Paramedics.

EPIC Medics, is a coalition of volunteer paramedics and others, whose primary goal is to integrate Emergency Medical Services and injury prevention in a partnership with other community-based organizations and agencies.

Our mission:
Eliminate or reduce preventable childhood injuries;
Provide educational opportunities for EMS personnel to enhance emergency care delivered to sick and injured children and their families;
Influence public opinion in favor of the health and safety of children in the communities that we serve;
Coalition building to mobilize other groups and individuals who share our goals.

You have developed a great website! If you wish to add a link to our website, it might serve as an example of what can be done when integrating EMS and injury prevention.
