Jump Kit

Hit Counter

The Jump Kit contains several pieces of equipment necessary for primary assessment.

Jump Kit The jump kit.

Within the Jump Kit, we have the following:

Blood Pressure Kit The blood pressure kit, or Sphygmomanometer, is used to take a patient's blood pressure.  The stethoscope can be used to listen to, or auscultate, the pulse or breath sounds.

Glucometer In order to assess a patient's blood sugar level, we use a glucometer.  A lancet is used to prick the patient's finger to get a drop of blood for testing.  The results are determined within 30 seconds.

Oral Glucose Glutose, or Oral Glucose is a water-based gel that is used to increase a patient's blood sugar level.  This product is intended for those patients about to go into insulin shock.

Penlights Penlights are used to check the pupillary response in those patients with a suspected head trauma.  Sluggish or unresponsive pupil reactions are indicatative of a suspected head injury.

Rescue Shears
Bandage Scissors
Rescue Shears are needed to cut through clothing on a trauma victim.  Clothing is cut away to reveal any trauma hidden by the clothing.

Bandage Scissors are used to gently cut away old bandages.

Bee sting swaps
Epi-Pen
Being in the country, we have more than our fair share of biting and stinging insects.  During the summer months, yellow jackets, hornets, and bees are out and about building their nests, whilst hikers are tromping through the woods.  For those patients stung by these bugs, we administer medicated swabs that ease the pain of being stung.  For those patients who suffer allergic reactions to the venom, we administer the Epi-Pen.  The Epi-Pen contains an auto-injector that delivers .15 Mg of Epinephrine that counters the allergic reaction.

In addition to the above equipment, we also carry a supply of trauma dressings and gauze bandages.

Emergency OB Kit Emergency OB Kit
Packed in a sealed case to protect sterility until needed, this Emergency OB Kit contains 1 pair of surgical gloves, disposable scalpel, OB pad, lined underpad, blanket, towels, sponges, bulb syringe, umbilical clamps, apron, plastic bag, placenta ties and 3 disposable towelettes.

Trauma Dressing
Occlusive Dressing
The trauma dressing is a large pad designed to absorb a large amount of fluid.  These are used for any large-area traumatic injuries or those injuries where there is significant bleeding.

Other dressings we carry include the occlusive dressing.  This is used where there is a penetrating pulmonary injury.  The dressing seals the wound and prevents the lung from collapsing.

We also carry gauze pads in 4"x4", 3"x3", and rolls of gauze in 3" and 2" widths.  To secure the dressings, we use the Dermaseal brand tape.
