On January 3, 1999 at 8:15 a.m., the Glasgow Life Saving and First Aid Crew, Buena Vista Rescue Squad, Lexington Life Saving and First Aid Crew, Patient Transport, Stonewall Jackson Hospital Transport, Buena Vista Fire Department, Lexington Fire Department, Natural Bridge Fire Department, Pegasus Helicopter and Life-Guard 10 Helicopter responded to Interstate 81 at the mile marker 184 northbound lane for a massive multi-vehicle accident.
